Do I need to have prior writing experience?

No, not at all. Here is a quote from one of my favorite authors, Julia Cameron: “What if writing were approached like white-water rafting? Something to try just for the fact of having tried it, for the spills and chills of having gone through the rapids of the creative process.” (Julia Cameron, The Right to Write)

What if I am not creative, what if I have nothing to say?

I will teach you techniques that will stimulate your writing flow. Here is another quote that gives the essence of the experience:

“We should write because writing brings clarity and passion to the act of living. Writing is sensual, experiential, grounding. We should write because writing is good for the soul.”

Do I have to share what I have written?

It is your choice entirely whether you want to share your text by reading it, or fragments of it, aloud. My workshops are a safe space for you to share your texts if you wish to. All feedback will be appreciative and supportive.

What if I prefer typing over writing with my hand?

Many of us do a lot of typewriting over the course of the day, as it is efficient and allows us to communicate with others quickly. But this is not the purpose of the writing we aim to do together. We aim to slow down, unveil emotions, gain clarity, and ultimately, write creative texts. All this can be achieved by writing with your hand. I encourage you to give it a try. Use a pen that moves easily across the page, I would not recommend a ballpoint pen.

What if English is not my native language?

First, let me say that I think it’s great that you are multilingual! I am not an English native speaker myself. From my experience, I can say that it does not matter. The English you speak and write is good enough for expressive writing to happen. Mistakes can be fixed later 🙂
